Great Gadgets for Summer of 08
Sat, Jul 5, 2008
The Summer of 2008 is hitting us fast and hard! I know it’s certainly getting hotter where I am at, so now it’s probably time to get investing in gadgets for the great outdoors!
Today I bring you any gadget lovers’ haven! More importantly, these are the gadgets that will get you out and about, exploring the land as the glaring Summer Sun hits your face.
Leatherman Skeletool

So the first thing I bring you is the brand new legendary Leatherman. Not strictly buzzing with technology but if you’re up for a bit of camping then you’d be crazy not to have one with you. This new Leatherman is called the Leatherman Skeletool. As the name suggests, this gadget is overly cool! An astonishingly cool design will certainly wow your friends (Although I’m not too sure about the ladys); it bares a wonderful chassis that is blossoming razor sharp tools from every end! On the front is your standard (By Leatherman Standards) pair of pliars, the inside of the handle carries a light-bending blade and the end is equipped with you ever present and oh so handy screwdriver. Obviously there would be no point without a bottle-opener and of course there is a wonderful pocket-clip. At £59.95 ($115 Approx.) you may have to dig deep into your pockets, but I assure you, this is well worth it!
Sonance Rock Speakers

Now when I say Rock, I’m not talking about the music genre! This is originally designed speaker is quite literally taking the shape of a rock! The wonderful people at Sonance have given us the perfect gadget for our garden. So imagine it… you’re sitting in the garden, relaxing under the Sun and listening to your music, what better way to have your view free of ruin than to own a set of camouflaged rock speakers. These speakers are available in many designs, sandstone, brown and granite are just a few examples, they come in various styles of speakers too and are all suited to the outdoors! Obviously there is a question of money, not astronomical for a speaker but still starting at about £130 ($250 Approx.).
Wow Wee’s Tribot

In recent years Wow Wee have dominated the market for robotic toys, you’re all probably very familiar with the Robosapien and his various sibling forms such as the Robopets, now the wonderful toy company bring us a new robot called teh Tribot. As it’s name suggest it is on 3 feet, or wheels as I’d prefer to call them. This is not just a Groovy looking design, it’s sheer innovative brilliance, which has become a Wow Wee standard! He tells jokes, plays games and thanks to his wheels can probably cope well on quite a few outdoor terrains. This one is sure to be a hit with the kids, so if you were wondering how to keep them out of your hair whilst you chill on the hammock, you know now! The awesome Tribot is even more awesomely priced, £50 ($100 Approx.) makes it great value for money.
Liquid Image Underwater Digital Camera Goggles

This is a great invention and basically does what it says on the tin! Fancy some snorkling this summer but dont want to tie your hands with a waterproof camera? Then this is the thing for you! It’s available in 3.1MP and 5MP and comes in snug fitting variations for adults and kids. It uses a single easy to reach button for snapping shots and is powered by a waterproof AA battery compartment. Once done, simply hook it up in the usual way using a USB and save your summer memories. This is once again great value for money at only £55 ($100 Approx.).
Iqua 603 Sun Solar-Powered Bluetooth Headset

This is a great and once again innovative design. A bluetooth headset that never runs out of life so long as you’re walking or basking in the Sun. A solar panel on the side allows you to walk and talk for pretty much as long as you like! This is a unique design being the first of it’s kind and can operate up to a wonderful 8 metres, and when I say it has an infinite standy time, I really mean it! Unfortunately this products does come with quite a large price tag of £55 ($100 Approx.), but will last you forever and ever!
So that’s your lot. Now it’s over to you, great gadgets? Or a waste of hard earned money? Got any reviews of your own?

I want a summer gadget that automatically runs Camp Ling (my activities for my kids) so I don’t have to plan it out myself.
Enjoy,
Barbara
