Blogging Tips

I came across this problem with of my friends few months back, when I felt he had ignored his blog even though in my eyes it was doing good. The reason was that he assumed that his blog would be successful in a very short time.

After that, I see many blogs started by people who have daily jobs and are not able to post often. They tend to feel the pressure and burden of having to post few times a week and crumble under this pressure. My Question to everyone would be, If you had an aim when you started your blog, how can anything stop you when you know that your aim is achievable.

5 Tips to stop ignoring your blog

So, I have decided to conjure up some tips to help people to stop ignoring their blogs. Most people blog to make money from their blogs but there are some who blog for the fun of it. I guess these tips will appeal more to the former.

1. Just Relax - First of all, keep in mind that your not the only one facing this problem. There are lots of people out there who work daily and some find themselves in a position similar to yours. But, you should also know that there are people who actually find time to post. Its just a matter of Time management more than anything else. You might be finding free time during the day, but your mind might be too occupied that you just cannot concentrate. What you need to do is Just Relax. Take deep breaths, decide what you want to write about before hand and write bits by bits whenever you get the time and before you even realize, you would have finished a post.

2. Get Inspired - Inspiration is the root of all success. There should be something in your life that inspires you to do something. Think about what inspired you to start a blog and write. That itself will get your mind together to get back to your normal self again. Most people I know get inspiration by listening to music. So find that little bit of inspiration you need and enjoy it.

3. Motivation - This is something which can make you feel depressed if your blog doesn’t do well as expected. You need to be motivated. Its pretty simple, if your motivated, you get the drive to do better and in the best possible way and when you get that drive going through you, you tend to write a lot and your blog remains in good shape. The most common form of motivation is traffic and money. Each time you see your blog traffic increase, you will feel very happy and the urge to do better each time is more. Same goes with money, each time someone buys an AD spot, your atleast satisfied for the fact that your getting back what you have worked on for sometime. So, keep yourself happy always and your motivation levels will never drop.

4. Time and Patience - The time I am talking about here is the time you should give your blog to settle down and the patience should be within you not to boil off if your blog doesn’t seem to deliver. You should know that “What you Sow, you shall Reap”. If your not writing good content, your blog will take a longer time to reap the seeds of your work. For that, you should make sure what your blogging about is known to you and is not something like Latin to you.

5. Lower your Expectations - Don’t expect anything from your blog. If you stay in the frame of mind, that even 10-20 visitors daily is good for your blog, then you will be faced with no pressure at all. The Best judge of knowing this is Only You.

Prevention is always better….

I am not completing the above sentence because this is something which cannot be cured as its Human emotions and as you know its very complex. Always remember that Assumptions Kills and don’t start a blog just because someone distant told you that its a good way to earn money.

Has any of you ever ignored your blog for a small period? Feel Free to add more points…..

I ran into the problem of neglecting my blog a few months back. I had really gotten discouraged with it, because it wasn’t doing as well as I thought. I don’t really know why, but for some reason, I decided to pick it back up again, and start working on it again. One reason why many blogs fail, I believe, is that people expect blogs to be a super easy way of earning money. Yes, blogs can earn a lot of money, but it takes time, work, and dedication. That’s something i had to learn the hard way.

    Hi Prem!

Good to see you pick up this thorny little problem and offer some thoughts on it.

I think my tip would be; “little and often”, as a way of staying fresh. I usually start with a big burst of enthusiasm and then over-do. Not good. It is easier to stay focused for short time periods.
