Why you should choose Direct Advertising? - Road to Direct Advertising #1
Fri, Jun 27, 2008
There is a constant debate whether bloggers should go for adsense, adbrite or CPA type ad networks to fill their AD spaces. The idea behind Direct Advertising is cutting off the percentage what an ad network would profit on. But, Is having Ads from an Ad network more beneficial to you as compared to Direct Advertising?
This will be a 3-4 Part Series on how to make the best use of Direct Advertising.

Why go for Direct Advertising?
Direct advertising is more advantages to those people who are looking for a steady monthly income. So, if your someone who is trying to make a living online, you must give direct advertising a good try. Let me state some pros about direct advertising.
1. Hassle-free Advertising - Everyone loves comfort, direct advertising is just that. You don’t have to worry about how much you make from adsense. Infact, your not sure how much you will make from PPC Ads. Its not steady, one month you might do well, and then maybe never it goes well. With Direct Advertising, you get a fixed amount monthly and you can plan ahead.
2. More Money - When Advertisers look to buy an Ad spot on your site, they do so because they like the traffic you get, from where the traffic comes from, or from which country the traffic is from. They pay a fixed rate set by you (Part 2 - Setting a Price for Direct Advertising, will talk later) and whether they get clicks or a Brand exposure, the money us yours for good. You might earn more money each month through direct advertising than from adsense.
3. Save Time - Time is precious for anyone and everyone. The last thing you want is to spend time on setting up adsense (Incase your new to the monetizing scene) and replying to Google emails etc. Direct Advertising saves you a lot of time. Advertiser contacts you, he pays you, you make sure his campaign goes live asap and your done for the month. Moreover, your only focus can be always on producing good content.
4. Freedom to Choose - Suppose you put adsense Ads, and the ads displayed are not related to your topic, even though competitive filter is there in adsense, the direct advertisers will mostly have good looking ads. Or even if there are not, you always have the right to choose the best looking ones and reject the ads from phony sites.
5. Advertiser Recommends - If one of your advertisers likes the AD placement and he feels he is getting good exposure then he might even recommend your site or blog to other advertisers in the same niche. What would then happen is more advertisers for the same spots and you would have to increase the spot prices, which in any case, you are the winner.
There are many different aspects to Direct Advertising. I just spoke about Why to choose Direct Advertising. I plan to cover topics like How to choose and find Direct Advertisers, Setting the right price and also How to keep your advertisers happy. Well, lets see how it all goes.
So, how many of you have Direct Advertising? Do you think its better or bad compared to Adsense?

Hey,
nice article!
i voted for it at blog engage!
Regarding your question, it really depends on if your prepared to go looking, only 1% of the time, advertisers will come to you the rest of the time, you will have to do some PR work and find them, unless you have a big site.
