Did the iPhone 3G miss its mark?
Tue, Jun 10, 2008
Finally, Apple unveiled the iPhone 3G model, the phone was supposed to revolutionize Mobile phones and many people had their hopes on it. With lots of competitors emerging daily, it was necessary for Apple to hit the Bulls-eye. So did they hit the mark?
Well lets find out.

The New Features on the iPhone 3G
1. Size - The iPhone 3G seems to be 0.02 inches thicker than the previous model but lighter by 0.1 ounce.
2. Design - It looks the same overall, but the back side is different. The metallic finish has been replaced with glossy surface which can be prone to scratches i believe. So, the iPhone comes in black and white colors.
3. 3G - This is what the new iPhone has been based around. Data can now be accessed at double the speed even during a voice call and even when your not in a Wi-Fi zone. The speed is good enough for playing online Music and videos but no word has been confirmed if iTunes will be incorporated soon or not.
4. Battery Life - Pretty much the same.
5. GPS - Good upgrade has been done with respect to GPS. Live tracking and position has been added. You can track your photos with co-ordinates and Loopt has already announced a social-networking app that’ll use GPS to pinpoint your nearest buddies. So, thats a really good feature to have on your phone and the best part is the GPS switches off automatically so that your battery doesn’t drain off.

What people expected to get and there was no mention of it……
1. Video-Conferencing - No word of it mentioned. People expected a Dual Camera system to have video chat enabled.
2. Wireless sync with iTunes - I guess its safe to say people to Dream on as this was a lot to expect. But who knows, Maybe AT&T network might allow iTunes downloads via the iPhone and later this Wireless syncing becomes a reality.
3. Storage - No 32gb Model was announced, so people have to stick with the same 8gb and 16gb models.
Putting aside all the misses, the price has been reduced with the 8gb model starting at $199 which will impress more people to go ahead and buy the iPhone. Competitors would have to re-think their pricing strategies after the New iPhone 3G release.
So would you go and buy the New iPhone 3G? if not, Why?

When I first seen this electronic device I think I fell in love for the second time. The first time being my soon to be wife. I MUST have one and asked the old lady to get it for me on my B-Day
Isn’t it a great piece of art work?
So to answer your question I would buy it 100%

I hate the fact that 3G iPhone was released not long after I bought my iPhone. And for $199? Gosh, if I only I could wait for a little while.
