Mobile HDTV

So can you watch HDTV on your cellphone? I think its going to be possible now. Chip maker ARM has announced its release of their newest mobile graphics processor. The mobile graphics processor will feature a multi core. The Mali 400MP is capable of handling up to 1 billion pixels a second and is expected to become the norm here over the next couple of years. The design behind the processor will allow for lower costs on developers. The chip-maker claims that there is no difference between supporting one or four processors. The Mali 400MP is based off one of its predecessors the Mali 200MP. It uses the same method of rendering graphics.

Mobile devices have become one of this centuries must haves and the users demand faster products. It is a rat-race and every new step is a new milestone. The users of these devices expect an equal quality from their mobile devices as they are getting from their home entertainment devices. This puts a never dieing pressure on product makers to ensure that they don’t get left in the dust in the never ending technology race. Companies spend millions of dollars a year developing these new technologies just to meet the consumer needs.

“The battle for consumers” attention across all consumer electronics product markets means that the graphics acceleration capability of these devices is rapidly becoming a must-have feature. Consumers expect an equally compelling user experience when accessing content from their mobile and digital home entertainment devices,” said ARM Marketing Director Michael Dimelow. “The ARM Mali-400 MP graphics solution enables our customers to bring scalable graphics processing performance to a wider range of product markets and more economically than before.”

Specs:

  • 1 geometry processor
  • Up to 4 pixel processors
  • 45nm or 32nm core
  • Processes 30 million triangles per second (compared to 10million with its predecessor
  • Processes up to 1 billion pixels per second
  • Clock Frequency 275 MHz

Impressive Specs. It does look good on paper. Just anxious to see it working out on a mobile phone. Will the price of Cellphones go up? Do you think it is a Break-through Technology? Would you buy a phone with HDTV?

When Sony released that little hand held gaming system you must had know hdtv wasn’t too far behind. I seen a few friends playing that hand held and it looks so smooth it’s mazing!

I guess the biggest challenge now would be getting the signal to the device in a crisp and quality condition.

No big deal to me I don’t even watch T.V on my 35 inch let a lone a 5 inch haha!
