Mind Reading myth is finally broken
Sun, Jun 1, 2008
For the person who once said that mind-reading was a joke, think again. Scientists have been developing a computer program that can deduce what a human is thinking by studying the blood flow of a certain part of the brain. This program will then take the information it has gathered and begin to analyze it. As of now the computer-model is only limited to making out the nouns a person is thinking. It can even read out nouns that it doesn’t have in its database. This could, however, be a new direction in break-through technology.

There is always a fear in people with new technology. The consensus feeling is that brain reading can be manipulated by the government, and used at inappropriate times. Scientists say not to fear. The model can only work properly if the patient is sitting still and goes through an MRI. The most important thing that can be taken away from this is– scientist will be better able to understand how the brain, and the human body for that matter, works. It also produces solid evidence that it is possible to know what one is thinking.
As of right now the model cannot depict the thoughts of a person without multiple choices. Scientists found that the brain will categorize the nouns by what you do with them. The meaning of an apple, for instance, is represented in brain areas responsible for tasting, for smelling, for chewing. “An apple is what you do with it,” said Prof Marcel Just, who led the study. This has been a long debated topic for many years now. Scientists, and people alike, have all debated repeatedly how the brain organizes its data.
Science is moving in a direction that will only lead to better things. It is my humble opinion though, that science would be much more advanced if the US government had decided to fund better for NASA. This may have been discovered several years ago and we may have been able to completely read one’s thoughts by this point with the model.
So what do you think? Is mind reading a boon for mankind? Also, Have you ever tried reading someone else’s mind?
My next post if going to be the 1000$ prizes competition. So, Stay Tuned Folks.

Mind reading never existed. We may feel it exists sometimes, but it doesn’t.
