HTC set to “Touch” down iPhone with a Diamond

After Samsung announced its cloned version of the iPhone called “Instinct”, how much more competition can Apple take. HTC has just unveiled the HTC Touch Diamond Smartphone which seems to be more powerful, sleek and good looking than its predecessor.
Every Mobile phone maker out there are making phones these days just to beat the Apple iPhone. With Apple’s launch of the 3G iPhone due phone makers are trying their best to give Apple a second thought. Samsung’s Instinct was the first real competition the iPhone had got and even though it was impressive, it looked and felt more like an iPhone clone with few improvements made from the flaws of the iPhone. But, in the case of the HTC touch Diamond, atleast it is not an iPhone clone.
The Touch Diamond is shorter, thinner and a few ounces lighter than the iPhone. The design looks to be flawless, sleek and has a Touch-flo interface which is an easy to touch UI and it runs over Windows Mobile which is the chosen OS for the smartphone.
Lets just check out the features this phone is packed with below:
- LCD display of 2.8 inch diagonally with Full VGA resolution as compared to iPhone’s 480×320 pixels.
- TouchFlo boasts a row of icons at the bottom of the screen for various functions and when you tap an icon, the display spins and twirls to the appropriate application.
- HSDPA for 3.5G Web browsing and downloads
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS
- 4GB of internal memory
- 3.2MP camera and an accelerometer that turns the display to landscape mode when you turn the Diamond on its side.
- Opera for full HTML rendering and zooming in to Web pages, along with a separate YouTube app.
- Windows Mobile Professional (the new version 6.1) means full compatibility with corporate Exchange servers
- Microsoft’s mobile Office suite (good for composing and editing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents).
Windows Mobile OS seems to be a powerful Mobile OS as even HTC Touch had it but the new Pro version has been heard to be quite a burden for novice smartphone users. The Touch Diamond is packed with lots of features which might make it a complete phone but having said that Apple are no push-overs and I am sure they will come up with something new in the iPhone 3G version.

There is a new model on the market now, couldn’t see it on eBay as yet but hopefully it’ll be there before this festive season. Makes a great gift now days for kids and adults thereof.
