Index your site in less than 48 hours
Tue, Apr 22, 2008

I am writing this post after many friends asked me when i started this blog, How did you get your site indexed by Google in less than 48 hours? Infact, I got my last 2 sites indexed in less than 40 hours. Of Course, there will be an advantage only if you have content by then, else it doesn’t matter much.
Its pretty simple and just a few steps to be followed and few precautions to be taken. I use only Wordpress powered blogs and its a guaranteed working method so don’t blame me if you are using some other CMS system and your site doesn’t get indexed in 48 hours.
1. Don’t ever ever goto Google and add your site there. I am talking about the link at www.google.com/addurl
2. If your using Wordpress, then download the Google Sitemap Generator Plugin. What it does is create a .xml sitemap file of your blog which can then be used in step 3.
3. Then goto Google Webmaster Central. Login with your Gmail id and password or incase you don’t have one create one.
4. Verify site which is done by several methods which are very elaborately explained inside.
5. Click on Sitemaps and then goto Add new Sitemap. You will then be asked to give direct link to your sitemap you created using your plugin. If you goto your plugin config page, you can see the link to your sitemap, mostly it will be http://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. So just enter that and click Submit.
Thats it. You’re done. Your sitemap will get submitted in a few hours and in less than 48 hours, you can come back to Google Webmaster Central and see the message, Pages of your site are indexed by Google. Always remember never to add your site directly to Google as it shows your site is not strong enough to get indexed by itself and requires a bit of help from Google to get it done, thats when your site gets indexed in like a week or even a month or the rarest possibility of never getting indexed.
Its not over yet. A small effective trick is still left. What I do is I goto sites like Digital Point, Sitepoint etc and add my new site in my signature and continue to participate in the forums. So, what happens is Google picks up that kind of ‘recommendation’ from the big sites and indexes your site faster.
The above mentioned steps are the same for any CMS or blog system. The only difference is the Sitemap generator plugin, which i am sure every CMS system has one already. No more waiting times, get your site indexed asap.

That’s Correct foe new sites index, many webmasters are facing this index problem in search engines.
but if we can do proper steps for search engines so spiders will always welcome to our new web pages.
quality forums and social bookmarking is the best techniques like stumbleupon, digg, squiddo etc..
You’ve specified proper steps for new users, sure it will help to all.

Hey Brian,
Good to see you here.
I do notice how fast it is now but I’m not too sure if Google will index my post minutes after being published. For me it’s usually within the next 24 hours. Perhaps your blog is more popular than mine.

@ yan! I’m here and I’m there lol. I’m pretty sure Google will do the same for you! If not try out Google webmaster tools and this will fix your indexing time issues.

If there is one thing I prioritize early is to use Google Webmaster Tool. It’s a must-have tool for any webmaster. You just can’t go without it.
Thanks, Brian for the referral. I’ll be checking on the site once I finish with this comment.

i have heard this and saw too that “many webmasters are facing this index problem in search engines”
the easiest way to get index is by submitting to SB sites and get few Quality backlinks pointing to ur site … and the site or page will get indexed within 48 hrs .. maybe within 24hrs too

Submitting to SB sites doesn’t really help you to get index faster and easier as most of them doesn’t pass any backlink to your site. It requires proper SEO strategies for faster index.
